Story evolution

Just to tell you a little of how the story started.
I was sitting doodling! Yes, doodling in a meeting I had a my art college. Not that I think doodling is a bad thing, (as I try to promote this to my students as a creative method of abstract thinking) but on this day, it distracted me away from the tedium of trying to understand the Greek that was being spoken in the meeting. I was messing with shapes for characters, and one of the things I ended up with, was the form that is now closely resembling the fish like creature that can be seen in the image above. I believe that this was initiated by a Guinness advert I was showing my students about the evolution of Guinness, which begins (or ends) with the tasting of the primordial soup by three lung fish like creatures. To make a long story short, and having a very keen interest in Charles Darwin, my brain pieced together a concept of a story of following one single cell amoeba as it evolved in the entire life cycle to the present day.
The story has grown and the development changed a little, but the main concept remains. As it evolves I am trying hard to see how to incorporate many of the aspects of what makes man a man in physical and mental aspects and draw that into th eplot and the humour.
